If you’ve never considered a blunt cut for even a second, Olivia Culpo’s collarbone-grazing lob will make you strongly feel otherwise. Seen wearing her hair half up, high in a pony, and even tucked into a low bun, the 25-year-old former Miss Universe proves time and again that short hair is inclusive to a medley of manes. But it’s not just Olivia’s locks that leave us lusting for more—her girl-next-door charm and glamorous fashion make her a walking mood. And with more than just beauty gigs under her belt, she’s proved to be quite the multi-hyphenate It girl. This year’s OC ventures include opening a family restaurant in her hometown of Rhode Island, earning a spot in the Sports Illustrated 2018 Rookie lineup, and even launching her own fashion and lifestyle site. Vying for brows as beautifully bold as Olivia’s while she sampled this season’s best hair accessory—micro-bangs, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Cesar Ramirez—we caught up with our Mane Muse while on location at a Calabasas ranch to find out how she maintains her virgin hair, go-to salons, and her upcoming silver screen scenes—keep scrolling to read our interview with Olivia.
You have gorgeous, virgin hair—is there a reason why you’ve never colored it?
I have thought about it, but I was worried that it might damage my hair. I might try it one day, but for now I prefer to play with different hair styles. I guess if there is one color I would try it would be blonde, but I don’t think I could pull it off because my eyebrows are so dark.
Who cuts your hair? You always give us the best short hair inspiration!
Justine Marjan cuts my hair as well as styles it for events. She is so talented and such a good friend. She even contributes content to my website oliviaculpo.com where she breaks down some of my hair looks! Check out the bubble pony which is live now!
Do you have a favorite salon in LA? In NY? In RI?
In Rhode Island, I love to see Jane at Eden XO Salon; Robert Ramos at Estilo Salon in LA and John Barrett in NYC are also some favorites!

What’s the best hair hack you’ve learned?
Don’t wash your hair everyday! The natural oils in your hair are so important for keeping it healthy and the more you wash your hair the less and less those oils will naturally form.
Cesar Ramirez gave you faux fringe for the shoot and it looked SO fab—would you ever get bangs IRL?
Bangs were fun for one day, but I don’t think I could commit to having them all of the time. I think they are more work than people suspect because they need to be styled all the time otherwise they can get crazy.
What’s one hair tool you never travel without?
I LOVE my GHD Platinum Styler. It’s a one-stop shop for me – you can do curls, S-waves, and pin straight with the tool.

What’s your favorite way to use your must-have hair tool?
I change my go-to hair style all of the time, but right now I love the pin straight, middle-part look. It’s so chic yet classic.
How do you get your hair ready for a party?
If it is a cocktail party then I like to experiment with unique updo’s and even extensions. When I might be using more product and heat on my hair, I will do a coconut oil mask. It is so easy – you just put coconut oil in your hair and leave it in for a few hours and then wash it out. It gives my hair a healthy glow.
How do you salvage a bad hair day?
I love the OUAI Dry Shampoo. It can really liven your hair when it is feeling a little drab.

What are three hair products you’re obsessed with right now?
I love OUAI Matte Pomade for keeping fly-aways and cowlicks down when you are parting your hair. I also love the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, and L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray is the best go-to hairspray.
You recently launched your new site! Major congrats! What else can we expect to see you working on in the new year?
Thank you!! I am so excited for this website and can’t wait to continue curating content. The website has been a great opportunity for me to go beyond an Instagram post and really get into details about fashion, beauty, wellness, food and travel. I will have a couple films coming out next year – one with Amy Schumer titled “I Feel Pretty” and “Reprisal” with Bruce Willis. I am also working on a few exciting fashion projects – more details to come soon.
