To be dubbed America’s first supermodel is no easy feat, but iconic blonde Cheryl Tiegs more than deserves her spot at the head of the table. Before Kate, Naomi and Gisele, Tiegs graced the pages of Vogue, Glamour and most notably, Sports Illustrated, before landing a major contract with Cover Girl. Her girl-next-door looks may have sparked the start of her modeling career, but it was her 1978 Time Magazine cover titled ‘The All-American Model’ that solidified her uber-model status.

Joining the ranks of some of our other envious ‘70s manes, like Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Ladd, Tiegs was synonymous with feathered, blonde waves, the epitome of a breezy, beautiful California girl. In fact, her ability to shift effortlessly from the pages of Sports Illustrated to cover shoot for Vogue reminds us a lot of another blonde bombshell #manemuse, Gigi Hadid!
Since the ‘disco days’ trends are showing no signs of slowing down, and Tiegs’ beach ready styles couldn’t be more season appropriate, she is officially our go-to source of inspiration when we’re looking to emulate free-spirited fabulousness.
